Every year the superbowl comes and goes for some resaon ads and commercial are just plain boring. I down remember laughing once doind the super, except when i was laughing at tom brady because he lost the superbowl. People are paying millions of dollars to come on during the superbowl. Your going to have to come up with better ideas!
The Super bowl is the advertising event of the year. With the millions spent on commercials for Super bowl Sunday, the use of cultural stereotypes helps eliminate the challenge of understanding people who are different from us. Most of the commercials were messages for men. Women could care less. Stereotypes prevent us from identifying the feelings that are really going on inside of us. We use stereotypes in part because it’s so hard to take in all of the complicated information about other people in the world. It’s difficult to spend the amount of time necessary to understand why or in what different ways people behave. So instead, we learn early in our lives to accept stereotypes of groups, or individuals. The Super bowl was a great way to get this point across.
People pay millions to have their ads placed in the superbowl event. The one that stood out to me the most was the Victoria Secret ad. It seems very vulgar for the simple fact that thier are young children out there that do know how to read. Let the games begin can cause a lot of questions in a household pertaining to that one sentence. Sometimes I think that women put themselves out more than needed.
The superbowl ads are just getting ridiculous when it comes to the stereotypes. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would even approve these ads to go on during the superbowl(the most watched football game of the year). The ad that really stood out to me was the salesgenie ads, where they are streotyping asians and indians, i would be upset if i were them. It is one thing to think about a certain culture in a negative way but to broadcast it around the world, no.
The Super bowl is one of the most viewed tv program of the year. Every year I look forward to seeing the commercials, so that I can get a good laugh in. This year the commercial SuperGenie.com really bothered me. It was mocking the Asian & Indian culture. These commercials make people think its okay to make funny of other cultures when its not. We are suppose to be getting better instead we're supporting it. When I goggled this commercial, they gave a summary of it and then you could play it. The CEO of the company said "If it [the ad] positively impacts business like it did last year, we'd be thrilled to be the worst again."
Actually, I didn't view them as stereotypical at all. I don't do the football thing, but since my hometown was playing, I watched in support. I normally tell the people in my house to alert me when the commercials come on. This year the commercials seemed to be very bland. I did however, enjoy the ones for (I believe) Monster.com, they were funny. The one with baby (about e*trading) was stupid, as was the cavemen and the wheel. But the one with the dancing lizards, they were fantastic! You can also tell they were "ethnic" because of their rhythm. (ha ha)
3bubble3 First off I would like to thank the Giants (especially the D-Line) not only for winning the Superbowl, but also for preserving my team most charitable record of being the only team to every go undefeated and win the Superbowl. But now as far as the commercials I would have to say they sucked, and yes it was one I believe it was by salesgenie.com that I found to be stereotypical. Tell me how come it has to be the brother with all the kids, and about to lose the job, the only commercial that we really get a chance to shine. By the way the Sobe commercial hands down was the best commercial.
To me the Super Bowl commercials are a waste of time, although its the best way of advertisement there pointless. There not funny and they only show a little diversity. There just like all the other commercials that appear on TV; five Americans, one Mixed American; and one African American.....whew WHAt a BIG change.
After having watched many of the commercials that were played during the superbowl I noticed that they were geared toward males in general. I didnt not pay attention to the fact that there werent any commercials for women, but I also really didnt care. I know that football is a male sport and the majority of the fans are males. There are many sterotypes that were displayed but I dont beleive that many people looked at it in that light just because of the hype that comes with the superbowl game.
I'm not sure why the people (mainly females) can’t stand football the whole entire season, but when the Super bowl comes on they're eyes are glued to the tube. It's simple; they want to look at the million dollars television ads. Every year seems to be getting better especially the Budweiser commercials and the D. Wade T-mobile ad that had everyone laughing at how he was treated after joining C. Barkley's Fave Five. Although, it is very apparent that the ads are catered toward white males and when minorities are involved they are playing the dumb role. If you really want be honest, everything is directed toward the white community, just look at the half time show! Who the hell is that guy?! The Super bowl ads are the most anticipated aspect next to the game itself, and they should cater toward minorities more since the majority of the NFL is comprised of them.
Superbowl commericals are known to be the best of the best commericals that are suppose to funny and make the consumers want to buy that certain product. Alot of the commericals this year were dealing with the presidental elections and some were dealing the sterotypes in America. To be honest most of the commericals were not very appealing to me and i did not like
I saw the commercials as a selling tactic for the most part. Most commercials year round have some type of stereotypical guides behind it, so why should it be any different on Superbowl night. Companies know that the Superbowl is the most watch event on TV in America. Even people who do not watch football all season long; watch the Superbowl. Major companies know this and they focus big dollars and ideas for 30 second times slots to reach the biggest target group of the year. The one commercial the stood out the most to me as being very stereotypical was the Taco Bell commercial with the group of guys dress and playing the guitar in the street for the people eating the meal. We really have to ask ourselves, are they using these sterotypes to degrade the people they are portraying or to better relate to the target audiences.
first off I want to say big ups to my team them giants they came thru..... nobody else belived in them but i stood wit my boys thru thick and thin... now them commercials this year they wew straight fgarbage i probably laughed off three at the most. Anyways there was one commercial that stood out to me, the budlight commercial sterotyping asian, or hindi people making fun of how they talk. That was not right, becasue not all people from that culture may speak that way. But other than that the commercials we're okay this year not that impressed.
It’s that time of year again and everyone is ready for the spectacular event we know as the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League when the best of the best play each other to duke it out to recognize the team of the year. This game of the year is known as the amazing Super Bowl Sunday. Through the years it has actually become the most watched television broadcast of the year. Along with that millions of people will be eating tons of junk food, drinking lots of beer, and preparing themselves for the best entertainment of the year- the Super Bowl ads. Super Bowl ads are in my opinion the best part about watching the Super Bowl. They contain a lot of humor, some football related aspect of the commercial, and a different look at the product itself. As a Graphic Designer the advertising technique is beautifully done. However, another thing that Super Bowl ads provide every year is numerous stereotypes. Now, as we discussed before, the media influences the most stereotyping in our country today which is why our people think the way they do. The only and best way to eliminate stereotypes is through the media. Yet, when an estimated 90.7 million people are watching you have commercials displayed back to back full of stereotypes were woman are sex objects, men are superior, blacks are reptiles, and more. The list goes on and on and what’s even worse is it took you 2.5 million dollars to show this commercial. Why are we wasting are money on things like this to disgrace and talk about our people. No wonder other countries think were stupid. The crazy thing with me is until this topic came up I didn’t even realize how much stereotyping the Super Bowl ads presented. Matter of fact, in watching the Super Bowl I anticipated the ads just as everyone else did. I just laughed at them and said they were great and funny as hell. I didn’t even notice how bad they labeled different groups until watching the commercials again on Youtube. In result, the game was amazing but the ads are ridiculous, offensive, and not worth my time.
Commercials for the super bowl gets more interesting every year. Different advertising companys spend millions of dollars just for one minute. So many people look foward to these one minute commercials every year. The one commercial that disturb me was the godaddy.com commerical. It made the watcher want to visit the web site ecspecailly men, the end of the commerical was basically telling the viewer to visit the website so he or she can see Danica Patrick show her body parts, which to me is very sad.
I feel the use of various cultural stereotypes used in the super bowl commercials were outrageous. The super bowl is one of the biggest events of the year and this allows millions of people to openly and honestly advertise what they honestly think is funny and what will sell. Unfortunately a lot of those advertisements that were stereotyped referred to men and African Americans. Just because this is a big event doesn't mean it is time to exploit millions of stereotypes. For instance, the commercial that performed the thriller video advertising vitamin water, was it really necessary for the lizards to be wearing gold teeth? Did that signify a cool fashion statement for young adults? Wearing gold’s may be cool to some but to release a commercial to billions of people is unacceptable. I think the super bowl should have come up with less versatile commercials and kept it simple in order to not judge any age, culture, or race.
I think the Superbowl commercials use to be funny. Our societies and country is getting older but "younger." I think what they view as being funny is stupidity. There's always some sort of alcoholic beverage being advertised, or use of half naked women trying to sell a product. If we continue to buy these products from these billion dollar companies, we all will be in trouble!
Every year there are millions of dollars spent on the super bowl. This year like every year, the ads were not impressive. Many of them were too much for T.V. although it was just for the super bowl. The ads did not focus on the fact that all age groups would be watching the game; they were just concerned with the money aspect of it.
I like to first say that im not a big super bowl fan so I almost didn't watch the superbowl what i guess it was a good game for the parts I saw and understood but neway, commercials don't really faze me. They're kinda annoying to think of it because they interupt whatever it is im trying to see. But since I've heard so much abou the superbowl commercials I had to try to pay attention to them. I'd have to agree with some of my other classmates in saying that the one that was making fun of the asian and the indian accent was the most racially bias. It probably didn't hit a lot of people who weren't of that decent because it didn't affect them but if they had someone on there trying to speak "ebonics", making fun of our race it would have been a bigger issue for me and I thinkit's just natural for you to care more about things that directly affect you as opposed to things you just observe and see.
I'm not a big football fan, but i did catch some of superbowl commercials. I honestly thought that I had seen them before and they were stupid. Most of the commercials were about white men and beer. The commercials always seem to be directed toward a white audience anyway.
I just watched all the super bowl ads and I had to leave a comment. Advertisers’ job is sell merchandise or product, so they make attempts to reach every audience. I feel as though they must use stereotypes to sell products just to get the viewers attention. I didn't see anything in the commercials that in my opinion was offensive, but I don't speak for everybody. Not to mention I really don't think the advertisers wouldn't put an outrageously offensive ad in the most watched event of the year.
